by admin on June 16, 2016

This article contains important information regarding changes to the schedule for the Australian Open men’s and women’s singles. Due to the inclement weather forecast for Sunday June 19 and taking into account what is in the best interest of the players and protecting the greens ahead of the Australian Open finals, Bowls Australia has made the decision to enforce changes to the schedule of play for both the Men’s and Women’s Singles.

Women’s Singles – as Women’s Singles was only scheduled for two matches on Saturday June 18 (round of 128 & 64), winners of the round of 64 games will be required to play a third game (round of 32), commencing at 4.30pm (approx).

For the eight players who have been scheduled at Coolangatta, there has been a venue change; you will now play at Mudgeeraba.

Players will remain at their venue for the whole day, with the exception of Gold Coast Lawn who will be moved to Broadbeach Bowls Club for the third match. If you require transport between Gold Coast Lawn and Broadbeach, please contact the Bowls Australia Help Desk. The first round will still commence at 11:45am as scheduled.

On Sunday June 19, the Women’s Singles round of 16 matches have been moved to Paradise Point Bowls Club’s undercover synthetic green. Women’s matches will commence at 3:30pm (approx); however we ask that you check the Bowls Australia results portal to confirm your start time.

Women’s quarter-final matches will be played alongside the men at Broadbeach Bowls Club on Tuesday June 21 at 6pm.

Men’s Singles – All Men’s Singles matches scheduled for Sunday June 19 (round of 32 & 16) have now been moved to Paradise Point Bowls Club’s undercover synthetic green. Please refer to the Bowls Australia results portal to see your updated start times.

Two rounds will be played with the remaining Men’s quarter-final matches now scheduled for Tuesday June 21 at 6pm at Broadbeach Bowls Club.

**We ask that all players arrive at Paradise Point Bowls Club at least half an hour prior to the start of your scheduled match to allow for games to be moved forward if matches are ahead of schedule.
