Half-price plane tickets to the AO

by Aidan Davis on March 11, 2021

This year’s Australian Open participants could be set to reap the rewards of half-price airplane tickets, following the Federal Government’s offer to discount 800,000 flights.

The billion-dollar tourism boost announced this morning, aimed at helping the tourism industry recover from the pandemic, features cheap flights to the Gold Coast, among other major Australian tourism destinations, between the period of April 1 to July 31.

With this year’s $275,000 prize-money Australian Open set to return to the nation’s favourite holiday destination from June 12 to 25, across 13 Gold Coast host clubs, participants are well-placed to secure the discounted travel opportunity.

There are expected to be about 46,000 half-price tickets available per week for the 13 destinations, chosen based on their historical reliance on aviation tourism between the months of April and July.

To book a flight, simply log onto major airline websites, including Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin, from April 1.

Australian Open entries close at midnight on April 9.
